Profile: Llamas

Kriya the llama

Kriya and Apple Pie are our resident llamas.  Kriya was born at the California sanctuary over 13 years ago and is the last survivor of her llama family.  Kriya and her new llama companion Apple Pie gift us with a non-human presence on the core of the Sanctuary.

These two llamas overlook “All True Things Park” where multiple holy sites and temples are arranged among a beautiful pond and a wide spread of sacred oak trees.

The llamas have many local wildlife visitors and pilgrims to watch every day, wandering about just below their enclosure, where the original and foundational gravesites of Fear-No-More Zoo were established, including the graves of Daji Megan and Jingle baba.

The two llamas spend their days as commensurate contemplatives, enjoying chanting and pujas they witness from the priests below.  The llamas are timid in general and don’t like to be touched outside of formal training, but they enjoy very much a bowl of treats and munching on hay with their human caretakers.
